5th Class June news
We have been very active since our last update following Active Schools Week, our school tour and Sports Day. Active Schools week saw us enjoying many sporting activities such as G.A.A skills, tag rugby, a class walk, athletics, playground games and rounders as well as active breaktimes.
Our school tour, along with the 4th classes, was in Lilliput Adventure Centre in Lough Ennell, just outside Mullingar. Despite some unfortunate travel illness, a superb day was had by all- ‘The best school tour ever!!!!!!’ Many new experiences were had on land (fields, forests, bogs) and lakes including archery, rock climbing, laser tag, capture the flag, “bivvy” (hut) building, kayaking, orienteering, games, an assault course through the bog and bog hopping. It was a fun & energetic day with an emphasis on team-work and adventure. We had Sports Day last week which brought out our competitive sides. We were grouped with Ms. Mellon’s 4th class. Some of the races we ‘excelled’ at were potato & spoon (some cheating!!), ball squash and sack racing. We had some interesting team station activities to try to ‘up’ our scores with ‘nose ball’, ‘target tennis’, ‘keep-it-up’ and ‘word relay’ as well as bean bag toss, javelin throw and skipping. Some people, not mentioning any names, were highly confused as to where their noses actually are!!!!!! We had brilliant fun, finished off with penalty shots before a lethargic walk home, quite the opposite of the enthusiastic walk up to Claremont!!! 5th Class xx
