Technology is all around us and ever changing.  In St. Anne’s, we use technology in our teaching and learning every single day – be that through our interactive smart boards, our class sets of iPads or on computers. Here we have collected some websites and apps that are recommended that may help your child with their learning or projects.

General learning sites

Scoilnet –a Department of Education funded website to collate resources to help in all areas of the Irish curriculum. Very useful for projects, as well as literacy, maths or IT.

Help My Kid Learn– an excellent website by the Department of Education. It is “designed to support parents with fun activities and tips according to their child’s age. And each age group has lots of ideas for helping children with talking, playing, reading, writing and using numbers.”

National Geographic Kids – a lovely child-friendly website packed with information about various countries and animals.

Primary Homework Help for Kids – a UK based website designed to help children with their homework. Excellent maths and phonics resources available. 

How Stuff Works – a website with videos and podcasts answering questions about how the world around us works. 

Literacy

Starfall – a wonderful website for practising phonics. 

World Book Online – World Book Online had developed some resources for distance learning that are still relevant for all ages. 

Alphablocks  – a great cartoon to consolidate phonics

My Storybook – This website allows children to write a book with text and images. Great for expanding the imagination.

Teach Your Monster – a great website for consolidating letters, sounds and reading to full sentences. You must use an e-mail address to sign up. 

Storyline Online  – A website where authors read their books. Lovely to promote reading for pleasure. 

Epic – A large range of digital books to read with your child. Both fiction and non-fiction are available.

Spelling City– a website where you can input this weeks spellings to practise through fun games. Also useful for practising phonics.

Hubbard’s Cupboard – Printable sight words, booklets and words. 

Big Cat Reading eBooks – Access to hundreds of free levelled readers as e-books. 

Maths

Sumdog  – Maths practice across the curriculum 

Topmarks – An excellent website with games for every part of the maths curriculum for all ages. 

Multiplication Tables – Free games to help learn multiplication tables. 

Mathletics  _ A great challenging Maths website. You need to create a free account

Math is Fun – A website with fun games and puzzles for many of the different areas of maths, including tables.

Math Worksheets  – A website to create Maths worksheets. They are created dynamically so are different each time allowing plenty of practice on an area of difficulty.  

Khan Academy  – Challenging Maths practice across all areas of the curriculum as well as science and the arts. Progress can be tracked by the children.

Wellbeing

Cosmic Kids Yoga – A YouTube channel dedicated to yoga in children. 

The Body Coach – Joe Wicks P.E channel
