On Thursday the 3rd of June, the Junior Classes from Ms. Tobin’s Junior Infants to Ms. Moriarty’s Second Class, including our Speech & Language Class thoroughly enjoyed their 2021 Sports Day outing up in the glorious O’Mahony’s GAA Club pitches in the sunshine. All the children wore their backpacks filled with sports items, a hearty lunch and drinks and invested every ounce of energy into having the best school day.
On Tuesday 8th of June our Senior classes decamped to Navan O’Mahony’s campus for our annual sports day. Although the parents were missed the atmosphere was buzzing and the children had a great day. It was lovely after all the hardship of the last year to hear the laughs and see the smiles as the children participated in a variety of sports. Even the big children (teachers) took part in.
Mrs Fox’s 3rd class took part in postponed Science week this week. Each day they completed a different experiment. On Monday they designed and made parachutes that could land an egg safely from an upstairs window. On Tuesday they made ice-cream by lowering the freezing point of ice using salt – like what happens when the roads are salted. On Wednesday they made helicopters and had a little competition to.
The student council organised a lovely day out for our senior classes on Friday. They brought each class to O’Mahony’s where the children played a variety of games and the student council taught each class how to play rounders. It was a beautiful day so the student council provided ice creams afterwards to cool down. The children had a great day.
