This week we celebrated Biodiversity Week in St Anne’s. All classes enjoyed a talk with Goska from the Heritage Council explaining what biodiversity is and why it is needed. She also explained to us the difference between native and invasive wild animals and why we need to protect our native animals. She showed us pictures of tracks and skeletal remains from a number of wild animals.
The Green Committee and our 3rd and 4th classes were fascinated with the visit by Sean and Beth from the WRI Wildlife Hospital. They showed us pictures and videos of wildlife being rescued, rehabilitated and released back to the wild. They also had a really cool selection of taxidermy to show us. We hope they will visit with the rest of the classes soon.
