Safer Internet Day (SID) 2022, an EU-wide campaign to promote online safety, is taking place this Tuesday, 8th February 2022. St. Anne’s Loreto P.S. is keen to use this day as an opportunity to highlight online safety and wellbeing for children. Access to the internet at school is filtered by PDST Technology in Education, is designed and set to block content of an unsafe nature, always supervised by school staff.

We want to support Parents/Guardians also as best as possible on this theme and with this in mind please use the opportunity to find practical information on internet safety linked below for your  reference:

As part of our wide curriculum S.P.H.E., Wellbeing & Webwise lessons on Staying Safe are incorporated for every standard every term so our pupils are made aware of how to safely navigate their world including the online world, the many dangers associated therein and what strategies are to be adopted when faced with and challenged by unpleasant messages.

We contract specialists with current expertise specifically in these areas to educate ourselves and our 3rd-6th class pupils every year with this information so that we and they are equipped in advance with how to react and respond if/when we/they feel personally threatened.

We must lead by good example with RESPECT shown to all NO MATTER THE CONTEXT or otherwise we fail our youngsters. We also encourage active Parental monitoring of your child’s device/s
