The School Sponsored Walk & The Green Flag Launch was on Friday 10th October. It was a HUGE success for the wider St Anne’s School Community. The weather stayed in our favour. All the pupils, staff & parents participated in the sponsored walk and had great fun. On return to the school, the pupils received all their treats. The launch of the Green Flag was a huge success. Thank you.
This is the school’s fourth Green Flag and it is the Transport Flag. This flag involves the wider Community of St Anne’s including the parents, children and staff. It is being met with great support. It encourages staff, pupils and parents to walk and cycle more to school. The Transport Flag is being driven by the enthusiasm and passion of the Student Council in the school, the teachers, the parents.
We are learning facts about rabbits. Christopher’s pet rabbit ‘No name’ visited us.
In History this month we have been learning about how we have changed since we were born. We really enjoyed looking at some of our baby clothes, toys and photographs. It was fun to see evidence from our past of how small we once were and to share it with each other. We visit the library every Friday and choose two books to enjoy at home. We love sharing the books with our families.
GAA match v Longwood Thursday 9th October at 1.30pm. The game will be played in O’Mahony’s and all support is greatly welcomed. We will walk to O’Mahony’s and players can be collected there after the game if you wish. Otherwise we will return to the school at 3.00pm. Remember to wear your school tracksuit, bring your shorts, socks, boots, gloves, gumshield and water.
Well done to Clodagh, Sean, Jake Burke and Jake O’ Neill who played on the GAA team in September. We went on a mini beast hunt around the school grounds. We found many insects such as centipedes, millipedes, woodlice, a moth, two worms, slugs and a little spider. It was great fun. We also had a tree hunt where we collected leaves from each of the trees in our.
St Anne’s Annual School Walk will take place this Friday, 10th October. This is a great fundraiser for the school and we ask all pupils to return their sponsorship card with whatever amount you can raise before Friday. Remember every little helps!!! This day will also be the LAUNCH of our TRANSPORT FLAG so parents are invited to come to the school and wave the children off on their sponsored.
St Anne’s are hoping to achieve their 4th Green Flag this year. This flag is the Transport Flag.This is where children are encouraged to walk, cycle to school. We will have a Picture of a tree with brown leaves in the school hall. From MONDAY 13th October, each day a child walks, cycles they will receive a green leaf to pin onto the tree. Elections for School Council will take place next Wednesday 8th October in St Anne’s. Nominations from 5th & 6th class have been submitted and all those who wish to be elected must have their speech ready for Wednesday.
